21 Oct “Statement of the Freedom Party Leadership”
The Leadership of the Freedom Party, meeting tonight on October 21, 2024, expresses its position as follows:
1. We strongly condemn the severe and criminal terrorist act of the illegal, violent, and politically motivated abduction and arrest, which violated the human and civic dignity of a prominent public figure such as former Prime Minister, former Speaker of the Parliament, former President of the Republic, and the current President of the Freedom Party, Mr. Ilir Meta.
2. This criminal terrorist act, ordered by Edi Rama during the Socialist Party Congress and carried out today by the terrorist criminal structure SPAK, confirms what we have long denounced: that the rule of law in Albania has collapsed, and the justice system is strangled and functions under a regime solely serving the electoral and political interests of the Narco-state and Edi Rama.
3. The political arrest of the President of the Freedom Party, Mr. Ilir Meta, without evidence, proof, or testimony, confirms that justice does not operate on the basis of constitutional principles and law but rather on hatred, primitive revenge, political orders, and police-state methods of a dictatorial regime.
4. Edi Rama and Altin Dumani, through today’s terrorist act, have crossed red lines, declaring open war on the opposition, aiming to annihilate it, along with political pluralism and democracy.
5. The President of the Freedom Party, Mr. Ilir Meta, is now a political prisoner due to his strong institutional, political, patriotic, and civic stances in defense of the national interest and the sovereignty of the Republic of Albania, the maritime issue, and the uncompromising defense of Kosovo’s borders, as well as for his relentless denunciation of the schizophrenic corruption and criminalization of Edi Rama, the Narco-state, and Narco-justice.
6. The Political Leadership of the Freedom Party, expressing full solidarity with the politically imprisoned President, Mr. Ilir Meta, continues its political activities under his leadership, regardless of his legal situation.
7. The Freedom Party is determined to intensify its political action both on the ground and in denouncing the crimes and schizophrenic corruption of the Narco-state, offering a just and humane alternative government to all Albanians through its 5 Priorities for over 4 million Albanians.
